July 2007 - Football fans for 'IDDAA' campaign, Istanbul Turkey

<PREVIOUS

Out of the blue I received a job to shoot football fans for the company that organizes football betting in Turkey.
I figured it would have something to do with the football fans photos that I had shot for Aguila in Colombia just before, but it turned out to be because of photos I did for the ‘Eat football, sleep football, drink Coca-Cola’ campaign way back in 1996. With the difference that everything in the Coca-Cola campaign was shot ‘live’ during football matches, with a crowd of assistants in the stands that made all the people occurring in the shots sign contracts, and now everything was set up with models and extras, dressed, lit, and made to look as realistic as possible.
When I arrived in Istanbul the city was in the middle of a heatwave with temperatures of over 45 degrees celcius every day - so the only way to have 150 extras sitting in the stands of the stadium all the time was to do most of the shooting in the night time.
Under this link you can find the entire ‘IDDAA’ series.

Other Photos of the Month:
PHOTO OF THE MONTH SITE

The 'photo of the month' is not meant as something pretentious, it is not even chosen by any jury. It could be an advertising photo I did, or a photo for a magazine or record cover. Something telling you of a journey I made or the city I'm in. Or a snapshot of my girlfriend. The only criterium it has to meet is that it was made in the last month. And that I believe it is worth bothering you with...
I am very sorry for the not-very-personal tone and character of this mail - you may or may not remember me, we might have met in some sleazy bar in some part of the earth and exchanged emails, we might be colleagues or best friends, or just share an interest in photography. We might have worked or even lived together in the past.
Of course, if you would not like to receive any more mails just let me know and I will remove you from the list.
And if you know of other people that might like to receive it please let me know as well...
Thanks for your time and hope you are well!
